It’s been obvious to us for many years now that KAMEI makes the best quality roof boxes available anywhere, but it’s always very pleasing when this is confirmed by the product testers. Auto Express have given their Best Buy award to a KAMEI box for the third time in a row, and the Corvara 390K DuoLift silver wins for the second time in a row:

“KAMEI takes the honours again with a one-two. The Best Buy Corvara 390K has plenty of features, maximises capacity and is a joy to use thanks to dual side opening. Plus, it has the best locking system we’ve seen. The second-placed Delphin is bigger, cheaper and as well made, but let down by its single-sided lid.”

Best Buy 2009: KAMEI Corvara 390K DuoLift silver: “The Corvara retains the crown it won in our previous test. It has the same superb build as KAMEI’s Delphin, and the shape allowed us to get all our test luggage in with ease. The lid open on both sides, while fast-fit fixings are used. The locks system is redesigned, and although a single key releases all three of them, they can latch separately when you close the lid.” (Auto Express 18th February 2009)

Recommended 2009: KAMEI Delphin 470:
“Use this roof box, and you’ll love it! On paper, it seems a poor deal as there’s no central locking, the lid opens on one side and fixing involves plain U-bolts. Yet it’s easier to latch the two locks separately when the box is full of luggage. And O-rings in the fixing holes stop the U-bolts dropping as you tighten them. Feels bombproof, and that shape maximises volume.”

The KAMEI Corvara 390K DuoLift is available in silver and metallic black. There are 310 litre and 475 litre boxes in the same family, and all the boxes are also available with right hand side opening only if you don’t want to pay the premium for the DuoLift dual-side opening system.

The KAMEI Delphin 470 is available in right hand or left hand opening format. There are 340 litre (medium long medium wide) and 380 litre (short wide) boxes in the same family. All are available with right hand or left hand opening. The 340 is also available in KAMEI’s exclusive “carbon design” plastic.

Note: We’re often asked whether KAMEI’s Delphin 340K and Corvara 390K are big enough (both of these boxes have the same base). We point to the fact that you can fit as much baggage into both these 340 / 390 litre boxes as can be fitted into boxes as big as 440 litres. How come? It’s down to KAMEI’s low profile quick fitting box to bar fittings which maximise the available space in the box, and also the shape of the boxes which cleverly combine usability with great looks – KAMEI has a 55 year heritage in car styling and vehicle aerodynamics, and makes use of the VW wind tunnel facilities at Wolfsburg as required.
