It’s been obvious to us for many years now that KAMEI makes the best quality roof boxes available anywhere, but it’s always very pleasing when this is confirmed by the product testers. Auto Express have given their Best Buy award to a KAMEI box for the fourth time in a row, and the new KAMEI Husky XXL narrowly took the honours ahead of the 2008 and 2009 winner, the KAMEI Corvara 390K DuoLift. Another Roof Box Company box, the Hapro Roady 422 was placed third.
Auto Express: "Our Best Buy, Kamei’s Husky XXL, is not only a huge, high-quality box at a very competitive price, but being able to reduce its overall height by nearly half makes it much easier to store than most of its rivals.
Kamei also takes second place, with the Corvara 390K Duolift - a pevious winner. It’s undoubtedly a premium product, with many features to justify that higher price.
Our final podium place goes to Hapro’s Roady 422. Although a very traditional design, it proves that simple is often best – and offers a lot of storage at a budget price."
Auto Express award winning roof boxes:
Best Buy 2010: KAMEI Husky XXL:“An absolutely huge roofbox! Only 10 litres smaller than Thule’s Excellence, it has arguably more usable space inside – yet costs less than half. While it’s not as pretty, and the lid opens only on one side, it has one very clever feature. In storage, the base fits fully inside the upturned lid and can be locked in place. Re-assembling the halves is a five-minute job that requires no tools.” (Auto Express, February 2010)
Recommended 2010: KAMEI Corvara 390K DuoLift:“
Its clever shape took all our gear, leaving plenty of space. It easily justifies the slightly high price, too, with superb quality, a two-sided opening and quick-fit fasteners. The self latching locks which release centrally with a single key turn give the best of both worlds." (Auto Express, February 2010)
Best Buy 2008/2009: KAMEI Corvara 390K DuoLift:“The Corvara retains the crown it won in our previous test. It has the same superb build as KAMEI’s Delphin, and the shape allowed us to get all our test luggage in with ease. The lid open on both sides, while fast-fit fixings are used. The locks system is redesigned, and although a single key releases all three of them, they can latch separately when you close the lid.” (Auto Express 18th February 2009)
