Self-tensioning means that after first fitting you don't need to stop again to tighten the chains.

Maggi's 'The ONE 4x4' includes several innovations that really do make a difference to both effectiveness and fitting convenience:

• A patented corrosion-proof elastomer self-tensioning system that tightens the 'outer chain ring' evenly, with no reliance on luck to achieve optimum tension. The automatic tensioning process is energised during initial fitting by using the red cam lever to compress a series of elastomer balls held within the chain links in the outer chain ring. Additional tensioning is provided by a pair of Maggi's patented "Tension power disks". As the chain 'shakes itself out' during the first few wheel revolutions some of the energy is released from the compressed balls, shortening the chain and therefore tightening it around the tyre. Other self-tensioning systems rely on bungees (which aren't bad, but rely on general 'bounce' in the wheel to jerk a chain through a one-way ratchet) or spring-loaded wire devices (which can freeze up or be squashed during dismounting, and also work across the face of the wheel).
• The elastomer elements also absorb road shocks as the tyre changes shape, thereby reducing the strains on the chain links.
• A simple cam lever which is much quicker to use than a traditional tensioning chain (which then needs to be secured by being looped around the outer chain ring). There are no ratchet mechanisms to jam, rust or be at risk of being driven over when the chains are removed, and getting the chains ready to fit is so much quicker without a tangling tensioning chain.

Other features:

• The ONE 4x4 is suitable for use with modern low profile tyres - it has a lower profile than most traditional 4x4 chains, minimising contact with the wheel rims.
• The links are 3.7mm in diameter, 13mm high on the tyre tread, with a flexible sheathed cable (10mm overall) inside the wheel.
• The rhomboid-shaped links are designed to produce excellent grip, even on corners.
• The 'outer chain ring' links are covered in a soft PVC paint which prevents alloy rim damage.
• Good, clear, waterproofed instructions.
• Maggi chains are approved to the relevant German TÜV standards, and to Austrian ÖNORM V 5117. They use manganese and boron steels, optimally case-hardened.
• They are presented in a tough outer case which has four "Click" catches to make sure it closes each time, and stays closed.

Important safety information: These chains will fit around these tyres but you should not purchase them unless you have checked your vehicle handbook and found out that you are allowed to fit chains to this vehicle and tyre size. This information may also be provided on our "What fits my vehicle?" database which is offered only as a guide - it is invariably out of date because new vehicles and new tyre sizes arrive in the UK most months. A bigger problem for us is that changes in manufacturer databases are sometimes not reported to us until much later. So, all things considered, there is no substitute for checking your handbook!

Express Delivery orders placed before before the cut-off times shown below will usually be desptached on the date of order. Express Delivery orders placed after these cut-off times will be despatched the next working day.

Delivery FAQs

When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.

What about Next Working Day delivery?
We have offered a reliable Next Working Day service for well over 20 years but, due to the pressure on the couriers caused by the coronavirus crisis and the huge increase in online shopping, we can no longer be confident about the delivery date, which is why we now call the service ‘Express delivery’. Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next or second working day, but some will arrive on the second or third working day, or be split between these days. So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.

Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.

Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
