Midwest's "Ultima" range of heavy duty cages is intended both for the family and the professional market, with superior build quality and extra features.

They're supplied in a bright zinc finish, using thicker wire and a tighter mesh than the other Midwest "Life Stages" cages; all the panels have rounded corners, including the doors. Although designed in America, Midwest cages are now made in their own Chinese factory, using state-of-the-art wire bending and welding machinery to produce products which are consistently of the highest quality. We don't think you'll find better value for money elsewhere. There are cheaper cages, for sure, but they're probably made from thinner wire, with fewer features, and won't last as long.

Ultima cages have triple doors - one in the side as well as one at each end. What's special about the doors on the ends is that they open out, like Midwest's other doors, but they also swing in, out of the way of people and pets. This is a great feature for dogs that have already been trained; the door can be left open for easy access at any time, and the door isn't in the pet owner's way. Also, the end doors open in opposite directions. The traditional "front" door opens from the right and swings to the left. The "back" door opens from the left and swings to the right. (Finally, a pet home with a door for lefties!) When placed lengthwise in a vehicle you can get access to the dog from the tailgate as well as from the passenger compartment. With their multiple openings and right and left hinged end doors that swing both in and out, Ultima cages offer maximum convenience. Other features:

• We'll include a FREE "cage divider" which allows you to adjust the length of the living area as the puppy grows. This is really intended for use during the cage training stage - if you reduce the size of the cage it's less likely that the puppy will use one end of the cage as a bed and the other end as a toilet - but with a door at each end there's also the possibility of dividing the space between two dogs.
• The cage can be quickly and easily folded for storage; there are 2 carrying handles
• The latches are of the "slide bolt" type; they're very quick to use, and can't be operated from inside the cage!

This cage is designed for pets in the weight range 91lbs to 110lbs. Your pet may be smaller or larger than standard, or (importantly) your vehicle boot may not be large enough to accommodate a cage of this size. Our experience is that people tend to buy pet carriers which are larger than required, especially if they have more than one pet to carry, e.g. 2 dogs will probably be very comfortable in a cage which is suitable for just 1 of them.

Delivery FAQs

When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.

What about Next Working Day delivery?
We have offered a reliable Next Working Day service for well over 20 years but, due to the pressure on the couriers caused by the coronavirus crisis and the huge increase in online shopping, we can no longer be confident about the delivery date, which is why we now call the service ‘Express delivery’. Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next or second working day, but some will arrive on the second or third working day, or be split between these days. So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.

Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.

Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
