Package deal: INNO W Plus 840 gloss red box with roof bars

0
RRP:
discontinued

INNO is Japan's premier car racks manufacturer, right up there with the best in every area of expertise. These roof boxes, as well as having unique and very pleasing design features, include two important technical innovations:

  • the use of SPM plastic moulding technology for the roof box bases, making these lighter, stiffer, and stronger, and the whole box usefully lighter
  • a unique central locking system, the most sophisticated on the market

This package deal is only available at this "from price" if CRUZ has steel roof rail bars for your vehicle (CRUZ has bars for most vehicles), but we're also offering packages with our other bar brands, at higher prices but with even bigger savings.

All our roof bars packages provide everything you need. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" (see bottom of page), then choose your car to see the options and the savings.

This superb box and bars package deal provides everything you need for a fixed price, including locking roof bars and a roof box storage device or a useful set of straps. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" to place your order; we'll then show you which roof bars are available. You'll pay more for aluminium than steel, and you'll pay more for Atera, Thule, or Yakima, but the savings on buying the components individually are huge. We're confident that you won't find such good value anywhere else.

INNO is the car racks brand of Car Mate, Japan's largest automotive accessories manufacturer, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange; they work very closely with Japanese car manufacturers as well as having their own branded products. INNO has an international reputation for innovative designs, top notch engineering, and of course for materials and build quality which are right up there with the very best of the European brands. INNO has over 70% market share in Japan; we're only importing their very best products.

Although only a nominal 370 litres, the length and width (203cm x 84cm) allows us to load a similar amount of standard type baggage as we'd load into a 450 litre box. No box has space for two standard bags to be loaded on top of each other, so it's always the length and width that is the real measure of useful capacity, helped by having low-profile roof box to roof bar fittings. The carton size looks like 450 litres, and so does the box when looked at side by side with 450 litre boxes. Our message: Don't be deterred by the nominal volume; this is a good size box!

We trialled the red colour in Autumn and Winter 2020, and only had favourable comments, usually from existing roof box owners. It's a sophisticated red, very similar to traditional "Sigg bottle red" to those who know Sigg bottles; it looks particularly smart on blue or grey cars. We don't know of any other European roof box dealers who have these boxes, so if you buy one you'll be in a very select group!

What makes these INNO roof boxes so special?

The genuine innovation in these INNO roof boxes is the use of SPM plastic moulding technology for the roof box bases; this creates a product that it lighter, stiffer and up to 50% stronger than is achieved with standard vacuum-forming. It also produces an all round silky smooth finish, smart to look at, with a quite different feel to any other roof box base.

INNO also pioneered a sophisticated two stage central locking system, now picked up by some European manufacturers for their premium boxes. The 3 box catches are released by pushing a button, and they stay released until the box is closed again. (INNO has a patent on this, which is why other systems are not quite as clever!) Just pull the lid closed to shut it. You can't push the button without unlocking the box, and (for safety and security) you can't remove the key until the box is properly closed again. Cheaper locking systems require you to use the key to move the whole locking system, to unlock and relock, which by definition has to put some strain on the whole system.

INNO’s 'Memory Mounting System' is particularly simple to use, and is adjustable to fit bars up to 90mm wide - which includes all the bars we sell. You only need to adjust the fittings the first time you use them – thereafter you push them through the waterproof slots in the base of the box, so the claw fittings are either side of the roof bar, and just close the cam lever. It's a one-handed operation, so you can hold onto the edge of the car with your other hand. These fittings are also very low profile, taking up minimal space in the box.

T-track adapters are available if needed, shown in the list below. You use these instead of the Memory Mounting System fittings - they'll allow you to push the box further back or forward, which can be important if there's a potential clash with a fully opened tailgate. T-track adapters also provide more flexibility in side to side positioning, because claw fittings should not be used in the area of the roof bar feet (claw fittings usually touch the feet before they are tight enough on the bars) so you may not be able to position the box just where you want it; this matters if you want to carry bikes on the roof because you often need to push the box across to the edge of the roof bars.

A moulded removable cargo mat is also included, shaped precisely to the box base. This helps to protect your load - the cargo mat has an anti-slip surface - but will also stop that silky smooth base from being scratched. And when the box is empty it helps to reduce the noise that an empty box can make when it vibrates on the roof bars. It's a good accessory, showing real attention to useful detail, easily removed when you need to shake off or sponge of any dirt.

Other key features and specifications

  • It opens from both sides, so you can choose the position on the roof bars (depending e.g. on whether you are also carrying a bike) and to make for easier fitting and removal, loading and unloading
  • Spring struts for wide and easy opening and closing
  • Stainless steel lid hooks and hinges
  • Handles on the side of the box make opening and closing even easier
  • 3 year guarantee
  • Weight 20kg empty, maximum load 50kg. Most EU manufacturers now get their boxes tested to 75kg if possible - there is a lot of competition in the European market! - but INNO have not yet retested. Our view is that, because these box bases are intrinsically stronger than all others, this will be an easy pass if and when the testing is done

Delivery FAQs

When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.

What about Next Working Day delivery?
We have offered a reliable Next Working Day service for well over 20 years but, due to the pressure on the couriers caused by the coronavirus crisis and the huge increase in online shopping, we can no longer be confident about the delivery date, which is why we now call the service ‘Express delivery’. Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next or second working day, but some will arrive on the second or third working day, or be split between these days. So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.

Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.

Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
