Atera SIGNO RTD 122cm steel roof bars (2) 048 422

£114.95
RRP: £164.25
Code: AR8422

These bars exude design and engineering excellence. They should be superb long term value because they'll fit most popular vehicles with flush mounted roof rails.

Our Best Buy steel roof bars for vehicles with flush roof rails!

Atera's SIGNO RTD steel cross bars are sold as a complete package, ready to fit. They're our Best Buy for cars with flush mounted roof rails. 2 reasons: (1) The innovative feet and clamps have been tested and approved for use on well over 50 different vehicles, and more will be added as time goes on; other flush rail systems usually require a different adapter kit for every vehicle. In other words, they should be long term value for money (2) These good looking bars exude quality, with numerous smart features, including a torque tool tightening system that's really easy to use.

Other features:

  • Their overall quality makes these bars a pleasure to handle
  • The bars are tightened on with a long torque tool - long enough for your hand to remain outside the bar, even on the narrowest setting. You turn the tool until it clicks - then the bars are tight enough
  • Weight: 5.8kg for two bars. Note that the stickers on the base of each bar show the weight and maximum load carrying capacity for each single bar; double these for two bars!
  • Load carrying weight 100kg but please be guided by the maximum permitted roof loading limit of your vehicle!
  • Roof bar dimensions: 1220mm long by 32mm wide by 22mm deep
  • Locks are included
  • Supplied as a pair
  • 5 year guarantee
  • Made in Germany

Most of Atera's roof bars and accessories business is with the Original Equipment market, i.e. direct to the car manufacturers, where major customers include Audi, BMW, Daewoo, Chrysler, Fiat, Honda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, Smart, Subaru, Suzuki, Vauxhall and Volkswagen. Atera’s reputation therefore speaks for itself and (probably needless to say) their products are manufactured, city crash tested, TÜV certified and quality approved to the highest international standards including DIN ISO 1135, DIN ISO 75302, and IAF ISO 14001:2004.

As an arm twister, a thank you for buying from us, and to show off these incredibly useful products, we'll include one free Fasty HANDY with every set of bars you buy, while stocks last - see pop up link for details.

These roof bars were really easy and quick to fit. The torque tool means you get them to the right tightness straightaway. They look smart and their aerodynamic design has had very little impact on my fuel consumption. There is a slight whistle at high speed but its very minimal.
- Vehicle type: 4x4
Great product. Solid and easy to fit.
- Vehicle type: 4x4
Very easy to fit on my VW Touareg and coincidentally the same model fit on my wife's new Hyundai Tucson!
- Vehicle type: 4x4
Really sturdy, good quality roofbars. Easy to fit and very secure. Massively impressed with them. Great price too
- Vehicle type: Estate
Sensible design that has been easy to use. Fair number of plastic components, so time alone will tell how durable they all are. I havent conducted the standard drop test yet! System is straight forward to get into place and looks pretty idiot proof
- Vehicle type: Estate
Easy to fit and with my Husky roof box did the job to the West Country this summer. Well done the roof box company.
- Vehicle type: Estate
I changed car and required a new set of roof bars to accommodate my roof top box. The built in bars on the top of the vehicle had changed and therefore required an appropriate set of roof bars. I did not want to spend so much money for new bars when I already had a set but with different fittings, but I decided upon the Atera bars and am extremely pleased with them. I have used them twice since obtaining them and they feel a better design and the secure fitting give me complete confidence that my top box will be safe whilst driving at speed. Thank you for an excellent product.
- Vehicle type: Estate
Followed the instructions when to re- tighten etc. Have use the rails for four months now and can highly recommend them. Many thanks to the Roof Box Company for their sound advice.
- Vehicle type: Hatchback
Purchased to use on Mercedes GLA 2017, perfect fit. Used on a long journey UK to south of Spain in summer and no problems. Would recommend
- Vehicle type: MPV
Purchased these for a Fiat 500x with roof rails. The fitting and removing are straightforward. The added advantage is that the bars can be used with other vehicles, provided they have fitted roof rails.
- Vehicle type: Estate
It's a bit fiddly to set up first time ensuring the parts that attach to your car are in the correct place along the bar and then putting the seals into the bars. Once its done, you dont have to adjust it again.Good quality product and easy to use once initially set up. Would definitely recommend.
- Vehicle type: Estate
I bought these bars as they were 50% cheaper than Kia's own. They are built well and really easy to use. They come with all the tools required and a tool bag to keep them in. My only gripe is if you are not careful they will mark the roof rail. Apart from that I think they were worth the saving and I would buy again.
- Vehicle type: 4x4
Excellent product. Fitted by local garage in minutes whilst I grabbed a coffee!Smart dark colour fits in against my vehicle colouring. Minimal wind noise and feel very secure when the box is fitted. Highly recommended. Also avoids the need to continually purchase manufacturer (Hyundai) versions only to find not compatible with new model uplifts - Sante Fe. Now have 2 redundant sets in garage! Good advice from the team virtually and on calls.
- Vehicle type: Estate
Good product but not as quick to fit roof bars for flush rails as the Thule roof bars that were for previous car with clear roof rails. As I use them regularly for carrying kayak to my local loch, speed of fitting is all important.
- Vehicle type: Estate
After a couple of time installing them it was pretty straight forward and good quality. I always take them off when not using as I can go months without using them.. Although a lot heavier than expected, if I had maybe notice the weight I may have gone for the lighter option.
- Vehicle type: Estate
I've been using these for about a year now, really good quality equally as good as the Thule bars I've used previously. I can definitely recommend.
- Vehicle type: Estate
Perfect for our needs and really easy to fix
- Vehicle type: Estate
Quality product that is easy to fit and remove. Also very robust.

About our reviews:

We test, and often use personally, almost all the products we sell, and we stand behind our comments and recommendations unless customers convince us they need changing. Our Customer Services and Workshop staff also have input into our recommendations.

But it's because we've learned a lot over many years that customer feedback is so important. Fresh, first time out opinions are the most useful ones, and in any event we certainly don't have access to the full range of vehicles that our customers have between them.

Product feedback from existing customers helps our new customers make choices, and also helps our suppliers with their product development.

We e-mail our customers a week or so after their order arrives and invite them to send in a review.

Some reviews are suitable for multiple products. Where appropriate we may, for example, use the same review for a number of different roof bar products where the only difference is the length of the roof bar.

The aim of this note is to persuade you that kayaks should always be tied to the carrying vehicle at both bow and stern.

Always tie down at both bow and stern

Untied kayaks have, in our experience, the greatest potential for a roof bar or kayak carrier failure. The massive forces that untied kayaks can generate have even been known to snap roof bar fixing bolts with the result that a complete assembly of roof bars and kayaks has ended up on the road. We know that this has happened with almost every brand of roof bar, and regardless of whether the kayaks are on a special carrier or just strapped to the bars.

You need to fix bow and stern lines, probably using the front and rear screw-in towing eyes to get strong and accessible fixing points on the vehicle. Kayak shops should be able to provide suitable 'paracord' for this purpose. Alternatively, we have sets of straps available that are perfect for the job and are really easy to use. Yakima make some excellent Bow/Stern tie down straps and Thule makes the QuickDraw 838 which we have listed together with every kayak carrier we sell.

Please note that kayaks should be strapped to the roof bars, or to kayak carriers, using straps that are suitable for the purpose, e.g. 25mm polypropylene straps with strong buckles. Bungee cords must never be used.

Please also note that all roof bar instructions point out the dangers of carrying unsecured long items, as of course do all kayak carrier instructions.

If you tie down your kayaks properly you almost certainly won't experience a product failure. If you don't you may or may not get away with it. If there is a disaster and the kayaks end up on the road, separated from the vehicle, then you were not using tie downs and you have subjected the roof bars to forces for which they were not designed. The costs of sorting this out are yours, not ours, and you may also have difficulties with your insurers.

We're sorry to be so firm about this, but "things coming off the tops of cars" is the stuff of nightmares, and we want to do all we can to prevent accidents of this sort from happening.

Delivery charges and arrangements:

We charge a contribution towards delivery costs, depending on what you order, where you live, and how quickly you want the goods.

For most UK addresses, the charge for our two to three day service is £5.50 (£9.50 for orders including a roof box) and our charge for Next Working Day deliveries is £8.50 (£12.50 for orders involving a roof box). AutoSock, shoe chains, RUD i-Sock, and small spare parts, are charged £3.95 (Royal Mail Tracked), £4.95 (Royal Mail Express Tracked) or £5.95 (express courier, usually Next Working Day).

There are different charges for any delivery including a sea crossing, and deliveries to Skye - we will contact you with a quote on receipt of order.

Orders for Next Working Day delivery need to be received by 4.00pm.

There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Next Working Day orders placed on a Friday will be delivered on the Monday, Next Working Day orders placed on a Saturday will be delivered on the Tuesday.

We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver on a day and at an address which suits you. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.

No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. All courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
