Package deal: Calix H20 gloss black box with roof bars

£539.95
RRP:
Code: ATH20-GB-P

A new Long Wide box of the highest quality, with a size, shape and internal fittings that optimise its load carrying space. It’s 200cm long x 94cm wide x 38cm high.

It’s a very handsome box that we think is the best premium box of this size and shape that we’ve seen.

This package deal is only available at this "from price" if CRUZ has steel roof rail bars for your vehicle (CRUZ has bars for most vehicles), but we're also offering packages with our other bar brands, at higher prices but with even bigger savings.

All our roof bars packages provide everything you need. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" (see bottom of page), then choose your car to see the options and the savings.

This superb box and bars package deal provides everything you need for a fixed price, including locking roof bars and a roof box storage device or a useful set of straps. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" to place your order; we'll then show you which roof bars are available. You'll pay more for aluminium than steel, and you'll pay more for Atera, Thule, or Whispbar, but the savings on buying the components individually are huge. We're confident that you won't find such good value anywhere else.

Aerobar box adapters will also be included; tick the Roof box adapters box at the bottom of this page if you intend to order aerobars. (Please note that we won't supply these adapters if you order steel bars.)

We’ve sold hundreds of different roof boxes over the last 21 years, so can tell you with confidence that the Calix H20 (H 20, not H2O) is a real head-turner. We’re really pleased to have the opportunity to sell it, on account of its quality, its ease of use, and its styling.

The quality is right up there with the best boxes on the market. It’s KAMEI Corvara quality, Thule Dynamic quality, as is apparent from its weight, the ease of unlocking and locking, and the stiffness of the base when attached to the roof bars.

It’s 200cm long, designed to complement the shorter roof lengths of the latest estates, 4x4s and SUVs – it doesn’t hang out over the windscreen, and has a rear that is shaped to accommodate rear spoilers, complete with a recess for shark fin antennae.

You’ll see that the lid of the box picks up both side styling and front styling features. Styling the side and front profiles of a roof box so they look right is a really tricky task – many manufacturers still stick with the rounded look, others go for an aggressive cut off look, but the Calix H20 does something unique, and we think it really works well. Seen from the front, its styling lines mirror the side and bonnet styling lines that are typical of 2018 vehicles.

Calix boxes are made in Sweden, and the development work was mostly done with Volvos, not the BMW 5 series Touring used in these pictures. Even so, it looks really good on this car.

Other features and specifications:

  • External dimensions: 200cm long x 94cm wide x 38cm high
  • Weight: 27kg
  • Maximum load: 75kg
  • Dual side opening, with 3 optimally positioned locks on each side
  • Capacity: 430 litres. At 38cm high, the Calix H20 is lower than some Long Wide boxes, but it’s high enough to accommodate all the bulky test luggage we use. The space in the top of higher roof boxes increases the nominal capacity, but is not usually used at all.
  • The handle on the lid makes the box easier to open and close; it's an additional styling feature in itself.
  • The roof bar fittings are Calix’s Quick Grip. These fit around all the roof bars we sell, but if you also want to carry a bike on the roof then it makes sense to use T-track adapters, shown below. The Quick Grip combines claw-style fittings with an exceptionally low profile. You fit these by sliding the claws together so they touch both sides of the roof bar, then use the ratchet to tighten them – as shown in the picture. Extra tension is provided as you flip the cover from the open to the closed position - it won't shut properly unless you've fastened it tight enough. They’re very neat, very satisfactory to use, the lowest profile claw-style fittings on the market.
  • City Crash tested. The Calix H20 includes an internal safety nose, designed to contain skis in the event of a collision. This is removable, but as it’s specifically shaped to the box, it makes sense to leave it in place.
  • An internal LED light is included; it is light sensitive so turns on and off automatically.
  • Made from ABS plastic; the plastic and all other components are fully recyclable.
  • 5 year guarantee

Calix is Sweden's specialist box manufacturer, making boxes for car manufacturers as well as their own-branded range. Their roof boxes are made by the CalixKlippan subsidiary Autoform; the factory is in Malung, a small town about 350km north-west of Stockholm, in the Dalarna region of Sweden.

Very few customers know much about the roof box market before they visit our site. We have a lot of information about the things to think about before buying, and the “real world usefulness" of various roof box features, but you’ll be buying sight unseen, and you probably won’t have used a roof box before, so there is inevitably some luck in getting a box that you’ll be happy with.

We want to remove the risks of buying these large and often expensive items, perhaps from brands which almost every other roof box retailer doesn’t stock, and so we have a unique “90 day Exchange Scheme” for roof boxes.

This allows you to use a roof box and, with the benefit of experience, to exchange it for a new one within 90 days of invoice date. Most exchanges are from a shorter box to a longer one, or from a wider box to a narrower one.

These are the rules of the Exchange Scheme:

  • You are allowed one exchange only.
  • The original box must be in "as new" condition, subject only to fair wear and tear.
  • The replacement box must be a different model.
  • The replacement box must not be part of a package deal or be from our Bargains section.
  • Roof bars are never part of the Exchange Scheme.

This is how the exchange scheme works:

  • We charge in full for the replacement box, including the appropriate carriage charge and a charge for any packaging needed for the return of the original.
  • We arrange the collection and pay the return carriage costs.
  • When the original box arrives back here we refund you for the invoice value of the original box, but you won't get back more than the invoice value of the replacement box. In other words, if the replacement is cheaper than the original we won't be giving you "extra cash back".

If you want to exchange a box that was purchased as part of a package deal, the scheme works in exactly the same way. Please note that the roof bars in package deals will be invoiced at the full “Our Price” that was advertised at the time of order, with the box representing the difference between the package deal price and the roof bars. Package deal roof boxes are often invoiced at a very substantial discount to the cost of buying that box on its own, so it’s likely that you’ll need to pay a bit extra if you want to exchange for a box that is normally the same price as the one you’re trading in.

Please note: we can only collect items from mainland UK.

Delivery charges and arrangements:

We charge a contribution towards delivery costs, depending on what you order, where you live, and how quickly you want the goods.

For most UK addresses, the charge for our two to three day service is £5.50 (£9.50 for orders including a roof box) and our charge for Next Working Day deliveries is £8.50 (£12.50 for orders involving a roof box). AutoSock, shoe chains, RUD i-Sock, and small spare parts, are charged £3.95 (Royal Mail Tracked), £4.95 (Royal Mail Express Tracked) or £5.95 (express courier, usually Next Working Day).

There are different charges for any delivery including a sea crossing, and deliveries to Skye - we will contact you with a quote on receipt of order.

Orders for Next Working Day delivery need to be received by 4.00pm.

There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Next Working Day orders placed on a Friday will be delivered on the Monday, Next Working Day orders placed on a Saturday will be delivered on the Tuesday.

We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver on a day and at an address which suits you. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.

No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. All courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
