Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.
It's really important to select the correct vehicle, paying attention to the year of the manufacture

Overview:
These WingBars have carefully designed low profile fixings on their ends, allowing them to integrate really well with the car roof. The WingBar Edge is smoothly arched for a slim fit.
The wing shaped bar has been wind-tunnel tested to give superb aerodynamics and to reduce wind noise. Because of this some customers will choose to leave these bars on their car all the time.
You do lose some load carrying space because the bars don’t stick out beyond the feet.

If you’re looking for “the Edge” from your roof bars – then look no further! After many years of development, Thule has finally released the smartest looking roof bars available for your car. They don’t just look amazing, WingBar technology makes them practically silent and ultra-economic. Traditionally, Thule bars have always stuck out from the car as the bar passes through the foot pack. Not only did this look untidy, it meant you constantly banged your head on the metal protrusion whenever you strapped your kids into the car! Those days are gone with the Edge, as the bars finish in the foot – a perfect fit. TrailEdge™ is WingBar’s unique, aerodynamic shape. The old oval design is gone, as are the whistles that it used to produce. This “aeroplane wing” profile dramatically reduces drag and improves fuel economy. Many customers leave WingBars on their car all year round. WindDiffuser™ technology combines the shape of the bars with the structured rubber insert. The WingBar generates 90% less sound energy that the old Thule aluminium bar! You don’t get as much “bar for your buck” as you do with the traditional through-bars, so this flush finish isn’t ideal for those looking to maximise their car’s carrying capacity. The Edge bars are ideal for people that just want to carry a medium sized roof box by itself (no bikes) or a couple of bike carriers. If you’re looking to future-proof your roof bar purchase, you probably need to look elsewhere (Thule WingBar or Whispbar). The neatness of the Edge make it very unlikely that they will fit for your next vehicle – unless you go for the exact same model of car. The components needed to attach the Thule WingBar Edge to your vehicle are shown below. You need to order the WingBar Edge and the Adapter Kit (which attaches the bars to the roof on your vehicle).

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
