Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.

The Petego EB K9 Keeper is a new and innovative headrest-mounted universal dog guard. Its adjustments for width and height make it suitable for almost all vehicles with rear head rests, and it’s certainly the fastest and easiest guard to fit and remove that we’ve seen – not more than a couple of minutes.
If your car hasn't got adjustable rear seat headrests, this dog guard won't fit - please don't order it!
As well as fitting almost all vehicles, i.e. being particularly good value for money, it doesn’t impede the normal use of a fixed or rolling parcel shelf / boot blind - that’s a unique feature of a well designed headrest-mounting guard.
Almost as important in our experience is that the K9 Keeper doesn’t rattle - one of the irritating bugbears of many dog guards. It’s a one piece welded construction with no potential for metal on metal vibration. It has a neutral grey colour for reduced visual impact.
The K9 Keeper is held in place with only two brackets, well protected to prevent damage to either the headrest posts or the K9 Keeper. Position the K9 Keeper centrally against the back of the rear headrest posts, hook a clamp around one post on each side, and tighten; it’s that simple.
The guard adjusts from 25cm high (with the top bar removed) by 85cm wide to a maximum 49.5cm high by 150cm wide. The top bar is easily removed if there is not enough headroom - many cars have limited headroom in the boot space. Will fit to headrest posts that are between 45.5cm and 74cm apart.
Please be aware that you may need to remove the central headrest to fit this dog guard. If your car has three headrests, please ensure that the central one is removable before ordering.
Additional fitting notes:
- Use the rectangular guide bar to position the guard centrally on top of the back seat, then secure it to two headrests by tightening the holding brackets around two headrest posts - an easy one handed operation.
- Once the guard is in place the horizontal bars should be adjusted so they don't quite touch the edge of the vehicle, and then given a quarter turn which locks them in position.
- Removing the guard is as easy as fitting it - just loosen off the tightening knobs and remove from the headrest posts.
The Kar 9 Soft Barrier prevents your dog from getting into the front or rear of your vehicle. Made of durable nylon canvas and mesh, the Kar 9 Soft Barrier fastens securely to the headrest stems with adjustable nylon belts. The perimeter of the barrier is reinforced to provide extra durability and strength. Dimensions (maximum): 61cm (W) x 74cm (H)

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
