Yakima SkyBox NX 18 nano-texture roof box, no. 8007370
£604.95

We spend a lot of time handling and testing roof boxes, so can assure you that the Yakima's SkyBox NX boxes are top notch for build quality and features. The 'nano-textured' finish looks very smart and also includes some scratch-resistance. Yakima's ’SuperLatch’ locking system, with its solid external "Close lid to lock" handles, and also the particularly low-profile roof bar mountings, are valuable features.
These are really, really nice boxes, and very exclusive!
This package deal is only available at this "from price" if CRUZ has steel roof rail bars for your vehicle - CRUZ has bars for most vehicles - but you'll see that we also have packages with our other bar brands, at higher prices but with even bigger savings.
All our roof bars packages provide everything you need. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" (see bottom of page), then choose your car to see your options and the savings.

This superb box and bars package deal provides everything you need, including locking roof bars. All you need to do is to click on "Add to basket and choose bars" to place your order; we'll then show you which roof bars are available. You'll pay more for aluminium than for steel, and you'll pay more for Atera, Thule, or Yakima than you'll pay for CRUZ. The savings on buying the components individually are huge and, if the bars you choose don't come with locks as standard, we'll include them for free, so often the savings are even bigger than advertised. We're very confident that you won't find such good value anywhere else! What's not to like about Yakima's SkyBox NX roof boxes! They are exceptionally well made, good looking, aerodynamic boxes, thoughtfully designed and engineered, with a number of excellent innovations including their locking and mounting systems. They have a "Just pull the lid down to lock the box" system, as also found in the best KAMEI and INNO boxes; Yakima call their system 'SuperLatch’. "Close lid to lock" systems get around the main problem of many other central locking systems which is "How do you shut and lock a fully laden box, especially on a tall vehicle?" Inferior central locking systems require you to somehow keep both the front and the back of the box tightly closed - which needs two hands, held wide apart - while at the same time using a third hand to turn the centrally located key and lock the box. It shouldn't take two people to lock a roof box, which is why sprung loaded systems are so useful. Yakima boast that you can open and close these boxes with one hand, which is particularly useful on tall vehicles when you might need to grip the vehicle with your other hand. The visible parts of the SuperLatch system are the two solid external handles - one on each side because all SkyBox NX boxes are dual-side opening. These handles include Yakima's SKS locks; you'll need the key to open the box, and you can't lock the box and remove the key if the lid is not properly closed. The lid includes a moulded handle for easy opening, and a pull-down ridge for easy closing. A lot of technical work was done on the aerodynamics to minimise wind noise and drag. The result is a range of boxes with very clean lines. The base includes a spoiler to push air under the roof bars, and air diffusers at the back of the box - which is shaped with the aim of accommodating tailgate-mounted spoilers. The roof bar fittings are as low profile as any that we've seen, because the tensioning tool is separate from the fittings, a clever idea which helps to increase the usable space inside the box. This tensioning tool includes a torque limiter - it clicks to let you know when the roof bar fittings are tight enough. There's a location to store the tensioning tool on the inside of the box - so it's to hand when you need it, not e.g left at home by mistake. Yakima is, with Thule, one of the two biggest worldwide car rack brands. Yakima is based in near Portland in Oregon, USA, and is named after the city in Washington state where it was founded in 1973.
