The Thule Evo Clamp 7105 (full code 710500) is a smart and stylish set of 4 roof bar feet which, with the addition of a vehicle-specific Evo Adapter Kit and a pair of cross bars, clamp around the vehicle’s bodywork, gripping on to the vehicle roof. These feet may only be used together with a pair of these Thule bars:
This creates an Evo roof bar system, a "through bar" system, where the bars stick out beyond the feet. The four 7105 feet can, together, carry a maximum load of 75kg, but you should check whether your vehicle’s roof loading limit is lower than this. Remember to include the total weight of the roof bars when working out what weight you can safely carry. The approximate combined weights of feet and bars (depending on length) are shown above. The set includes a torque tightening tool, to ensure correct tensioning; when each foot is clamped tight enough around the edge of the roof, the tightener starts to click, and won’t apply any more tightening force. 4 Thule One Key System locks are included. We have a free lock matching scheme for all your Thule gear which, as a customer, you may continue to use any time you want. This means that you can use the same key for most of your Thule products. In practice, only having one key for all roof mounted bike carriers is the most useful part of a 'one key system', a system which is offered by all the major brands we sell. Warranty Thule’s roof rack products have a 2 year guarantee, offered to the original purchaser only, which includes damage caused by normal wear and tear, and the natural discolouration of materials. Thule then has a 3 year extended warranty, covering only defects in materials or workmanship, so the total warranty period is 5 years from the date of purchase. Note that Thule does not cover defects resulting from conditions beyond its control. These include, but are not limited to, misuse, overloading, a failure to assemble, fit or use Thule products in accordance with Thule’s written instructions, guidelines, and safety texts. The warranty also only covers the Thule products – it does not cover damage to a user’s vehicle, cargo, or to any other person or property. |

Roof Tents should NOT be fitted to vehicles with clamp-on roof bars Roof top tents are becoming increasingly popular, but we advise they should not be carried on vehicles that use clamp on roof bars. Clamp on roof barsIf you are reading these notes then your vehicle uses clamp-on roof bars. Clamp-on roof bars are not suitable for roof top tents or platforms; there are concerns for damage but more importantly for safety. Having so much weight on clamp-on roof bars can cause the roof bars to flex and the clamps to be loosened. In many cases the vehicle roof is not strong enough to withstand the pressure of the load on the individual feet, especially with two people in the tent; the feet are likely to make dents in the car roof which will probably also reduce the efficiency of the whole roof bar clamping system. Some roof top tent brands will suggest that you only need to worry about static and dynamic load weights, with no concern about the type of roof bar fixing. We think this is bad advice, as do for example Thule and Yakima, premium brands in the car racks sector who supply both roof bars and roof top tents, and would not reduce their own sales potential without very good reason. We can’t stop you from buying clamp-on roof bars and then fixing a roof top tent to them – all we can really do is to give you fair warning of the potential problems, to strongly recommend that you follow our advice, and to tell you that any claims for damage to your vehicle roof, or worse, should be referred to your insurers, not to us. Roof top platformsFull size platforms such as the Thule Caprock and the Yakima LockNLoad platform should also not be used on clamp-on roof bars; they tend to be heavily loaded, and to be walked on. |
