These new boxes from KAMEI makes full use of their capacity and include all the essential attributes of any KAMEI box - good looks, ease of use, top quality mouldings, excellent security, wide opening on gas struts, safety tests that are up with the best, but all the non-essential items are of a cheaper specification, giving a useful saving on what you'd normally expect to pay for KAMEI quality.
A great choice if you sometimes need to leave space for bikes, kayaks, etc next to the box on the roof but other times require maximum roof box capacity.

Buy these 2 boxes and get 600 litres of premium roof box capacity, with maximum flexibility for carrying other items as circumstances change. Use this page only for ordering the 2 boxes shown above. This offer is made on the understanding that both boxes will be delivered to the same address, and represents a saving of £40 on the price of buying them individually. One box opens from the right hand side and one opens from the left hand side, so one will be fitted to open on the nearside, and one on the offside. Each box seems bigger than its stated 300 litres of capacity, thanks to its low profile reinforcing ribs and fittings, and a lid that's an optimum shape for load carrying. Certainly it's amazing how much you can stuff into each one! To take advantage of this deal you will need to have or to order aluminium aerobars with at least 110cm of aluminium T-track fitting space; it makes sense to choose the 'through' style of roof bars, where the bars stick out beyond the roof bar feet. Note that Atera's roof rail cross bars are 2cm longer than their Thule equivalents, i.e. 110cm, 122cm or 137cm. Each box comes with 20mm T-track adapters which slide into the slots in the top of aluminium roof bars (including all the aluminium bars we sell), and also with U-bolts (M8 thread) which fit around bars up to 83mm wide x 32mm deep. 25mm T-adapters are also available separately for bars with a wider channel (e.g. BMW branded bars). It always makes sense to use T-track adapters with aluminium roof bars, because these allow you to position the box anywhere on the full length of the bars, they produce a much smarter look (no bits of metal visible below the roof bar) and it's a more aerodynamic fitting system. T-track adapters also allow you to push the box further back or forward than is possible with U-bolts - which can be important if there's a potential clash with a fully opened tailgate. And T-track adapters also provide more flexibility in roof box positioning than claw style fittings (this is the type which grabs around the roof bars and is tightened with a turning wheel inside the box) - this is because claw fittings should not be used in the area of the roof bar feet (these fittings will touch the feet before they are tight enough on the bars) so you may not be able to position the box just where you want it. Claw fittings also limit front to back positioning. So now you know why KAMEI includes standard T-track adapters (which are an extra cost for all other brands of roof box) and does not use claw style fittings. Please also check the maximum permitted load on your vehicle roof, bearing in mind that your roof bars probably weigh about 7kg. KAMEI makes a virtue of the 'Click' and 'Push button' locking system used in this box, enabling you to stuff it fuller than you might think is possible. You close one end and then the other, pulling down at each end until the black "Click" button holds the box shut, then you push the locks in and cover them with a weatherproof flap. Each lock drives a bolt from the lid into the base; this is fundamentally a stronger system than central locking systems can achieve.

Before you think about using two roof boxes on your vehicle there are some important things to consider: Will your roof bars be long enough to fit two roof boxes? You will need to have, or to order, T-track aero bars that have at least 110cm of usable space on the bars to fit these roof boxes, e.g. these two boxes will just fit onto Atera 110cm aero bars but not shorter bars. They won't fit onto flush bars. If you are fitting this box to Cruz aluminium bars or Thule WingBars you will need bars that are at least 118cm. If you are using Whispbars you will need bars that are at least 120cm long. If you don't use aerobars you may find that the "wrap around the bar" roof box fittings will clash with the roof bar Foot Pack and you won't be able to fit both boxes. If you are not sure if you can get bars that are long enough to fit both these boxes please contact us with your vehicle details and we can check your options and let you know. Can your roof take the weight of both roof boxes and your gear? You will need to check the maximum loading limit of both your roof bars and your car roof and make sure neither is exceeded. You can find the maximum roof loading limit for your car in the handbook. Contact us if you are not sure about the maximum load for any of our roof bars. Each of these boxes weighs 14kg, your roof bars probably weigh around 7kg. For example if your both your roof, and also the roof bars, can take 75kg you would have a maximum remaining load of 40kg (75kg – 14kg – 14kg – 7kg = 40kg) between the two boxes for your gear. It’s very important to check as some vehicles/bars will have a lower limit than this. |
Very few customers know much about the roof box market before they visit our site. We have a lot of information about the things to think about before buying, and the “real world usefulness" of various roof box features, but you’ll be buying sight unseen, and you probably won’t have used a roof box before, so there is inevitably some luck in getting a box that you’ll be happy with. We want to remove the risks of buying these large and often expensive items, perhaps from brands which almost every other roof box retailer doesn’t stock, and so we have a unique “90 day Exchange Scheme” for roof boxes. This allows you to use a roof box and, with the benefit of experience, to exchange it for a new one within 90 days of invoice date, only paying a contribution to our carriage costs. Most exchanges are from a shorter box to a longer one, or from a wider box to a narrower one. These are the rules of the Exchange Scheme:
This is how the Exchange Scheme works:
Please note: we can only collect roof boxes from mainland UK.
