The Hapro Boxer includes many useful features that make it both particularly robust and easy to use:

Robust, secure, water resistant: This black box is made from ABS/ASA plastic with a UV resistant and anti-scratch finish. After you've unlocked the box the handle activates a mechanism that lifts the lid just enough to make opening it particularly smooth and easy. When closing, the handle automatically closes; the reassuring click lets you know the box is securely closed. The Boxer has 2-point central locking, and the mounting platform is also locked to the tow bar.

The base of the box includes two steel reinforcing strips - it's very strong and is designed for long-lasting performance. The quality of the design and the moulding probably makes this box more water-resistant than other rear boxes we know about; we don't want to describe it as water-proof, because it's not IP rated and the rear of a car can be a harsh environment, often with a lot of road spray. As appropriate, we recommend that you pack your belongings in waterproof bags when using any rear box.

Tilt Function: This is operated with a foot pedal from the front of the box, and you use your own strength to control the speed of tilt. You can tilt the Boxer, even when fully loaded, to open the tailgate. Note that it's not suitable for vans with twin rear doors or with top-hinged tailgates - you can’t tilt the platform far enough to open these doors. (To our knowledge, the only option for carrying a rear box on a van, and being able to open the tailgate or rear doors, is the TowBox Camper.) Dynamic spring struts make it really easy to open and close the box. They keep the lid in position while you take advantage of the huge 50cm opening. The lower and wider design of the Boxer makes it easier to load and unload, and is also much better for rear visibility than a taller box.

Easy to move: The Boxer is a very awkward size and shape to lift, so it has transport wheels on its base, and an ergonomic handle. Pull it to and from its mounting platform, an easy task, and it's fixed to the base with four knobs which screw through the box base into retained nuts in the platform.

Hapro is the world's second biggest roof box manufacturer, based near Rotterdam in the Netherlands, making roof boxes for numerous important worldwide brands as well as selling under their own Hapro brand. They are experts in designing plastic boxes, and in vacuum forming. The Boxer series is their first rear box family; are there better rear boxes than these?

Express Delivery orders placed before before the cut-off times shown below will usually be desptached on the date of order. Express Delivery orders placed after these cut-off times will be despatched the next working day.

Delivery FAQs

When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.

What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.

Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.

Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
