Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.
It's really important to select the correct vehicle, paying attention to the year of the manufacture

Overview:
Whispbar™ Aero-X roof rail bars are almost silent in use and have a negligible impact on fuel consumption. And because they look superb you're likely to leave them in place semi-permanently.
The amount of gear you can carry on the Aero-X is limited by the length of the T-track slot, so if you do need to carry e.g. a roof box and bike carriers, please also check out the "through bar" option with fitting kit 328.

Whispbar™ Aero-X roof rail bars not only include the award winning aerofoil shaped bar but are ultra-low profile; they fit between the roof rails. If you're just carrying a roof box or a couple of bikes or kayaks this might be ideal, but if you want to maximise the load carrying potential of your car then you should be looking first at Prorack's Whispbar "through bar" system with fitting kit 328. Please note that it doesn't matter if the edge of a roof box rests on the plastic covers at each end of the Aero-X bars - just be sure before ordering that the T-track slot is as long as the distance between the roof bar fitting points in the roof box. Basic geometry: - The S53 set contains two bars of different lengths. The shorter bar, the rear bar, will fit between the inside faces of longitudinal roof rails which are between 86cm and 93cm apart (up to 96cm apart when the bars are at full stretch). The longer bar, the front bar, will fit between roof rails which are between 92cm and 99cm apart (up to 102cm apart when the bars are at full stretch).
- The T-track slot on the shorter bar is between 67cm and 74cm long (up to 77cm long at full stretch), i.e. it's 19cm shorter than the distance between the roof rails.
- If e.g. your roof rails are 90cm apart (inside face to inside face) at the rear bar fitting point, the available T-track slot will be 90cm less 19cm = 71cm long.
- As with all Whispbar bars the rubber infill is already in place, another really clever idea.
- Prorack T-tracks are designed for standard 20mm adapters, e.g. all relevant Atera, CRUZ, Thule and of course Prorack accessories will fit.
Prorack is a major player in the global car rack systems sector, already making roof bars as original equipment for several major car manufacturers. Whispbar is the culmination of many years of design and innovation, with Prorack’s chief designer transferring his aeronautical design experience and know how to the roof rack sector, working closely with the engineering school at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. To summarise, Whispbar is the bells and whistles system without the whistles! But don’t just take our word for it – hear it for yourself. Prorack engineers built a mini wind tunnel especially for the Frankfurt Automechanika trade fair in September 2008. Turn up the speaker volume and be blown away!

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
We have offered a reliable Next Working Day service for well over 20 years but, due to the pressure on the couriers caused by the coronavirus crisis and the huge increase in online shopping, we can no longer be confident about the delivery date, which is why we now call the service ‘Express delivery’. Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next or second working day, but some will arrive on the second or third working day, or be split between these days. So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
