Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.
It's really important to select the correct vehicle, paying attention to the year of the manufacture

Overview:
The Petego Comfort Wagon is a very thoughtfully designed and versatile dog transport system - it's a bike trailer, a stroller (if you buy the stroller accessory) and, because the wheels and trailer drawbar are so quickly fitted and removed, also a temporary place for a dog to stay in when out and about, including in your vehicle boot, if it's big enough, and maybe also in your holiday accommodation.

It has zip doors on all four sides, with the front and rear panels including snap clips to make a window, not a door - they prevent the dog from using its nose to open the zip to floor level. There's also a sunroof opening - you use this when assembling the Comfort Wagon - which also provides a good opportunity to keep in eye contact with your dog. It's light and airy, with all window panels made from a claw-proof polyester mesh - there are even offside and nearside rear mesh panels so the dog can see out when lying down.
The base is made from thermoformed plastic, with a removable plug so it's more easily cleaned and rinsed out. The frame is made of aluminium tube, and it's surprisingly strong - it can hold 75kg, not that we'd recommend that you try pulling such a weight on a bike!
It's folder height is only 25cm - it's easily folded, for transport in a car if needed, or for home storage. The wheels click into place - push the rubber covered catch in the centre to fit and remove.
The basic kit includes the Comfort Wagon, a bike towing bar, and a bike connection. The stroller kit is an accessory.
This is the Large size.
This is Italian design so, as well as the clever functionality and engineering, note the overall design - the juxtaposition of colours, the shape of the mesh and solid panels, the fun elements including front and rear reflective 'lights'!
Other features and specifications:
- Spring suspension system.
- There is no foot brake, but there are Velcro straps to pass around one or both wheel rims; these lock the wheels. The previous model, Sport Wagon, had brakes but no suspension system; there's no doubt that the spring suspension is much the better of these two options.
- You'll need a bike pump to inflate the tyres and keep them at the correct pressure.
- There's a pocket on the front panel - suitable for e.g. a lead.
- Dimensions when open: 89cm long x 66cm wide x 61cm high, without the wheels. Add the wheels, and it's 18cm higher, so tops out at 79cm.
- Dimensions when closed: 89cm long x 66cm wide x 25cm high.
In summary, smart and practical, and - we think - very good value for the money.

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
