König K-Summits are easy to fit and to remove. They're often one of the only options shown, especially where there’s minimal distance between the wheel and the wheel arch, or where there are clearance issues inside the wheel which prevent the use of traditional snow chains.

König's K-Summit is what we call a "Ladder track chain". It's fixed to a wheel bolt with a special adapter, winds on to the wheel when you start to move, places a ladder of chain around the face of the tyre, with no parts inside the wheel, and requires no additional tensioning. The external bracing mechanism, and the friction between the chain and the tyre, prevents it from coming off the wheel, especially during cornering. The hardened steel traction plates incorporate specially shaped "ice breaker" ridges; the chain elements are made from case-hardened manganese nickel (MnNi) alloy steel to provide an optimum combination of strength and hardness. Each K-Summit size comes as standard with adapters to fit 17mm, 19mm, 21mm and 22mm wheel bolts. Because each K-Summit size fits a number of tyre sizes, some adjustment to the circumference of the ladder track is usually required first time out - this is easy to do, especially as K-Summits have a really clever spring loaded tensioning system. A few turns of a spanner fits the adapter to the wheel bolt - a spanner with an insulated handle is supplied - and the rest is easy. There's a ratchet to take the strain and to make sure that the system is at an appropriate tension. Removing the K-Summit is also quick, clean and easy - loosen off the ratchet and pull the chain off the tyre. Other features:
Excellent!

There are two parts to our snow chains offer this year: (1) Clearance prices on many top branded snow chains, including RUD and Thule - an amazing opportunity for those who are quick off the mark! Thule (who are the biggest brand in the car racks market) have sold their snow chains division; the same chains are now being sold under the König brand. Thule branded chains have the same specifications as the König branded versions - all that has changed is the name on the chain and the name on the box. (2) Multibuy discounts - significant discounts if you buy two pairs of snow chains at the same time, or one pair of chains and one pair of AutoSock: If you do either of these things, we will discount the snow chains as follows:
As usual, you change the quantities in the Shopping Basket. Many customers will, for example, use snow chains on their driving wheels for Alpine use, and use AutoSock on the non-driving wheels, especially if these are the steering wheels. Also note that AutoSock work very well in very wet snow, even on slush, where snowchains are often not suitable because they can't get any grip in the snow. So having both AutoSock and snowchains makes sense from at least two different perspectives. |
Fitting PDFs König K-Summit snow chains - how to fit König K-Summit - adjustments for first time useK-Summit chains need to be configured for your wheels, best done at home before they are needed for real. This video shows how this is done - note that some of the translations from the Italian could be better, e.g. for 'nuts' read also 'wheel bolts', but the video is overall very clear. |
